Wildlife encountersUnlike the seasonal whale sharks, Ningaloo’s reef manta rays are present year-round, which makes this one of the reef’s most reliable big-animal snorkels. From the Exmouth side they are most abundant in the cooler months and often a bonus on whale-shark and humpback trips.
The encounter is gentle and safe: mantas are filter feeders with no barb or sting, and they often swim curiously toward snorkellers, somersaulting as they feed.
How it works
- Mostly boat/tour-based; dedicated manta trips and reef tours run from the northern ramp.
