Sunset gets the crowds, but the lighthouse hill is just as good at dawn and almost always empty. First light comes up over the Exmouth Gulf side, throwing the lighthouse and the old wartime structures into silhouette.

It is a fine place to start a day on the cape, with the whole peninsula laid out and the reef beginning to colour up below.
