Coral Bay kayak trail
📍 Bill’s BayPaddle to numbered moorings on the reef, then drop in and snorkel.
Coral Bay has one of Ningaloo Marine Park’s four kayak trails: a set of numbered moorings out on the reef, 300 m to about 1.8 km off Bill’s Bay, all within the no-take Maud Sanctuary Zone. You launch off the beach, tie up to a buoy, and snorkel a patch of reef you would otherwise need a boat to reach.
It is a lovely, low-impact way to combine a paddle with deeper-water snorkelling — best on a higher tide and a calm morning, and a step up that suits competent paddlers and snorkellers.
How it works
- Hire a sit-on-top kayak (with a PFD) in town; up to 10 kayaks per mooring.
- Snorkel the moorings on a higher tide; carry the required safety gear offshore.
