Five Fingers Reef snorkel

📍 Five Fingers Reef

Shallow, calm and fish-rich reef fingers a short drive south — a family favourite.

Five parallel reef fingers run from the beach out to about 200 m offshore here, in shallow water (around 1–3 m) that teems with fish — a brilliant, beginner-friendly snorkel about 4.5 km south of town, and a reef that largely escaped the 2022 coral damage in Bill’s Bay.

The catch is access: soft 4WD sand tracks off Monck Head Drive, a roughly 6 km return beach walk from the boat ramp, or a guided quad-bike tour. Currents can run here, so it is a notch more committing than the town beach.

How it works

  • Reach it by 4WD, a long beach walk from the boat ramp, or a quad-bike tour from town.
