Maud’s Landing history walk

Maud’s Landing was the area’s first European foothold — a wool and stock shipping point from the 1890s until the late 1940s, named after the schooner Maud. A long jetty once ran out into the bay; today just a couple of piles and a concrete woolshed footing remain on a quiet, wide beach.

It is a low-key spot for a beach walk and a bit of history a few kilometres north of the bustle, and the same beach turns into a turtle rookery over summer.
