Maud’s Landing

A few kilometres north of Coral Bay, Maud’s Landing was the area’s first European foothold — named after the schooner Maud (1884) and used from the 1890s until the late 1940s to ship wool and stock out over a long jetty. Only a couple of jetty piles and a concrete woolshed footing remain today.

The long beach here is a green and loggerhead turtle nesting site over the warm months, with hatchlings emerging later in summer. A seasonal closure protects the nesting beaches north from the landing.
