Dunes is the best-known and most reliable surf spot near town: a reef break with a hollow left and a more forgiving right, off a wide, dune-backed beach. It is the marquee break in the marine park and draws a crowd when it is on.

It works best on a SW swell and cleans up in offshore winds. Surf it around mid tide — the left gets dangerously shallow as the tide drops.
