A short but rewarding walk climbs from the car park onto the rim above Yardie Creek, with the red gorge and its dark green water dropping away below. It is rocky and a little exposed in places, but the views down the gorge to the sea are worth the scramble.

Scan the far wall for rock-wallabies on the ledges, and time it for the cooler ends of the day.

How it works

  • ~2 km return (the Yardie Gorge Trail), marked but rocky and uneven — sturdy shoes.
  • The flat Yardie Nature Walk (1.2 km return) is the easy alternative along the creek.
