Fishing

Coral Bay sits inside Ningaloo Marine Park, with large no-take sanctuary zones — including Bill’s Bay itself — so a lot of the water around town is off-limits to fishing. Where you can fish, it is good: charters run out through the reef passages to the outer reef and deeper water for coral trout, red and spangled emperor, cod and pelagics like Spanish mackerel, tuna and wahoo, while the lagoon zones that are open hold whiting, trevally and squid.

There is shore-based finfish fishing along a designated stretch at Paradise Beach, beach and boat fishing on the remote coast to the south, and a boat ramp south of town. Wherever you fish, the zoning and the WA rules apply — fish must be landed whole, and bag and size limits are enforced.
